The first time I came into contact with the Rebozo was during my pregnancy yoga teacher training with Françoise Freeman from Birthlight, Françoise used thin scarves to hold on to each other during yoga exercises for couples, but also to stretch your own neck, legs and arms. What a pleasure it was to expand the yoga exercises in such a playful way. Later in my postnatal teacher training I also learned the power of closing your body with the scarf / Rebozo, so that your ribs, belly and pelvis form 1 more whole. Personally, as a mother of three children, I personally benefited a lot from that, because in addition to physical closing, it also gave security and confidence in my feminine strength. Because of my training at JJdoula (Nu Bia Doula) I got more floor to use the Rebozo during the delivery and I came in contact with Thea van Tuijl and Mirjam de Keijzer.
What nice and especially inspiring women, I wanted to learn more from that! In the meantime I had become addicted to the Rebozo and used it in almost all of my yoga classes, partner classes, massage sessions, during childbirth and as a closing ritual during the postpartum period.
As a yoga teacher and massage therapist, I find touching and connecting with yourself and each other very important. The Rebozo is also a great tool. A technique that is not mandatory but that ensures that you can let go and accept. I was very honored when Thea and Mirjam asked me if I wanted to join their team to further spread their love for the Rebozo. Because how beautiful it is not to spread that smile that everyone gets when they are shaken in the Rebozo.
